Andrew Heatwole

Andrew has been with Trident Academy since he was a teenager in 2000. A dedicated student from the beginning, he has risen through the ranks as both a competitor and instructor. Andrew left us for 4 years to take his bachelor's degree at Christopher Newport College where he set up a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/Submission Wrestling Program, before returning to become an integral part of the Trident Team.

Andrew has achieved his Black-belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under the legendary Rigan Machado. Under the tutelage of Erik Paulson he has become a level 2 coach in Combat Submission Wrestling. His training with Pat Tray has seen him qualify as an instructor in Thai Boxing, an apprentice instructor in Jeet Kune Do, and an associate instructor in Total Defense System. Andrew is a 2nd Degree Black Belt in JTX and continues to compete in numerous events.
